Mission Statement – NoSuffer.org

Image
Our Mission is to carry out a global campaign for ending preventable mental suffering using genetic screening.  Every day, millions endure invisible pain from mental disorders that we increasingly understand — and, in many cases, can now prevent. At NoSuffer.org, we believe that suffering should not be accepted as fate when science offers tools for change. We advocate for research, policy, and public awareness to eliminate the *needless* suffering caused by preventable brain-based conditions — while respecting the complexity of human emotion and the reality that not all pain can (or should) be erased. Our vision is a world where fewer lives are derailed by treatable and preventable disorders — where more children are born free from avoidable anguish, and where compassion and reason guide health policy. We don’t promise a life without hardship. But we do say: **No** to the suffering we *can* prevent.

NoSuffer petition will drastically reduce unhappiness from 29% to 5% of the population.

The following is based on a previous post .   Of the ~29% who report being unhappy, likely:     U1. ~17% have a current mental disorder     U2. ~8% have had one previously     U3. ~4% are mentally healthy but unhappy due to other factors (financial, grief, etc.) This is not just heuristic but valid extrapolation. If mental disorders are eliminated by the Petition project, then people in the group U1 and U2 (~25%) will become mentally healthy. 96% of them will be happy = 24%, and  4% of them will be unhappy = 1%.  So, the Petition project would drastically reduce unhappiness from 29% to 5% of the population.   Final Resulting Happiness Landscape: Group    Population %    Happy %    Unhappy % Former U1 + U2 (now healthy)    25%    24%    1% U3 (non-disorder causes)    4%    0%    4% Previously Happy    71%    71%    ...

85% of unhappy people have mental disorders

🌍 How Many People Are Unhappy or Mentally Discontent? In 30 surveyed countries , 29% of adults report they are unhappy , while 71% say they are happy. ( Ipsos , Ipsos ) πŸ“Š Among Unhappy People: What Are Their Mental Health Profiles? Unfortunately, few sources directly categorize mental health breakdowns within unhappy populations. But we can approximate using available data: A representative Dutch study showed: Of those who felt never or rarely happy in the past four weeks: 57.7% had a diagnosed mental disorder 26.9% had a history of one (in remission or past) ⇒ Together, 84.6% had either current or past mental disorder. ( globalmentalhealthcommission.org , Verywell Health , SpringerOpen ) Using this as a rough proxy for broader populations: Of the ~29% who report being unhappy , likely: ~17% have a current mental disorder ~8% have had one previously ~4% are mentally healthy but unhappy due to other factors (financial, grief, etc.) πŸ’ Amo...

Funding for petition ads

Most major donors won’t blink at a $10,000/year ask if your case is strong and the plan is clear. --- ✅ 1. $10,000/year Is a Reasonable Ask This budget could support: A multi-country pilot campaign (via Google Ads and press) Outreach to mental health communities Petition site hosting and localization Graphic/video content or testimonials Initial translations (e.g. Indonesian, Swedish, Japanese) And it positions your project as serious, not hobby-scale. --- 🌍 2. Do Foundations Prefer Specific Pilot Countries? Yes — many major funders have regional focus, but they are usually flexible if you justify the country strategically. Here’s a breakdown: Foundation    Country Preference    Comments Wellcome Trust    UK, Africa, Asia    UK preferred, but Singapore or Indonesia are eligible if framed as global or LMIC public health Gates Foundation    LMICs (Low- and Middle-Income Countries)    Indonesia is a strong candidate; California n...

NoSuffer petition - short version

🧠 Petition to End Preventable Mental Suffering 1 in 5 children born today will suffer from a serious and often untreatable mental disorder. For too many families, love is not enough. Children like Matthew Warren suffer unimaginable internal pain — not because of trauma or poverty, but because their brains are wired for despair. Despite therapy, medication, and support, many never find relief. Some take their own lives. We already have the scientific tools to identify which children are most at risk — before symptoms ever appear. Polygenic Scores (PGS) can detect elevated risk for disorders like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe autism. But fear, outdated laws, and political inaction block this technology from being used to prevent suffering. We don’t need more research to know that prevention is better than tragedy. What we need is political courage. We call on governments, health agencies, and global institutions to: Remove legal and political barriers to ethical, voluntary...

This is significantly higher than the general population risk: ~0.5–1% lifetime.
