NoSuffer petition - short version

🧠 Petition to End Preventable Mental Suffering

1 in 5 children born today will suffer from a serious and often untreatable mental disorder.

For too many families, love is not enough. Children like Matthew Warren suffer unimaginable internal pain — not because of trauma or poverty, but because their brains are wired for despair. Despite therapy, medication, and support, many never find relief. Some take their own lives.

We already have the scientific tools to identify which children are most at risk — before symptoms ever appear. Polygenic Scores (PGS) can detect elevated risk for disorders like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe autism. But fear, outdated laws, and political inaction block this technology from being used to prevent suffering.

We don’t need more research to know that prevention is better than tragedy. What we need is political courage.

We call on governments, health agencies, and global institutions to:

Remove legal and political barriers to ethical, voluntary use of PGS in prevention.

Fund equitable access to PGS tools for those who wish to avoid serious mental illness in their children.

Support global guidelines to ensure responsible, compassionate use of this life-saving science.

This is not about creating "perfect" children. It's about preventing avoidable suffering — the kind that medicine cannot heal once it begins.

Let’s act now, before another generation suffers in silence.
