Novella - Purpose and Goals
Purpose of the Novella: - Convey the **reality of long-term suffering**, even when invisible. - Show how **existential anxiety, OCD, bipolar, and societal misunderstanding** trap someone. - Make people **feel compassion** and **see the need for reform**. - Be paired with the Petition to **move hearts and minds**. Key Narrative Goals: 1. Invisible Suffering — Emotional and mental suffering that outsiders can’t see. 2. Slavery to Emotion — Especially when abnormal biology overpowers logic or values. 3. Biological Roots of Emotion — Highlighted later through art like Venus and Cupid (Bronzino) and neuroscience. 4. The Limits of Willpower — Showing that for people on the spectrum's edges (e.g., intense OCD or hypersexuality), cognition alone isn't enough. 5. Compassionate Realism — Acknowledging without sugarcoating what it means to live with overwhelming urges or fears. 6. Petition Message — That biological suffering should be reduced early, so people don’t suffer this way.
